Ever since Alana Smith stormed onto the X Games scene in 2013 with a Women’s Park Silver medal in Barcelona, it’s been clear that they are a force to be reckoned with. Alana is among a select group of skateboarders who push limits and boundaries, regardless of the terrain. Their transition skills are very impressive, and at times can even threaten to overshadow their considerable street prowess.
Alana can throw McTwists on the vert ramp and has even hit the Mega Ramp, something that she found to be surprisingly fun. With such a multi-disciplinary approach, Alana’s developed into an aggressive and stylish skater who can handle whatever obstacles are thrown at them.
Alana was the first female to do a backflip on a skateboard, and in 2015 Alana took first at Vert Attack in Sweden, as well as both Vans Girls Combi Pool Classic events that year. Switching athletic gears, they also landed on the podium that year in Chicago at Street League, taking home the third place trophy. In 2019 Alana again took third at Street League in Los Angeles, and then claimed the top spot at the Red Bull Rollercoaster contest.
Alana has said many times that they don’t want to be known as just a good female skater, they just want to be known as a good skater—period.
