Renaissance Park Certification Ceremony

Renaissance Park Certification Ceremony

The event began with opening words by Lee Jones, Director of Mecklenburg County, underscoring the vital role of partnerships in advancing initiatives. This was exemplified by the collaboration between USA Skateboarding and the US Performance Center to certify the skatepark. The USA Skateboarding team participated in the event, organizing a meet and greet and session during the event. This certification is a significant milestone, marking the first certified skatepark in North Carolina and further supporting the growth of skateboarding in the community.

Remarks from the founders and principals of the United States Performance Center, Ike Belk and David Koerner, reiterated their commitment to supporting skateboarding in the USA and embracing its unique essence. The USPC is dedicated to providing world class high performance training, prioritizing health, wellness, and safety. Our aligned guiding principles, 'team riders first' and 'guarding the core values of skateboarding and its distinct identity,' make this partnership invaluable.

In his closing remarks, Johnny Schillereff, the CEO of USA Skateboarding, stated, "The founders and principals of the United States Performance Center, Ike Belk and David Koerner, exemplify immeasurable character, and it has been an honor to collaborate with them. We anticipate the positive impact and precedence we will establish for the broader world of sports." We are proud to be working with Mecklenburg County.
